FAISALABAD: Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) observed Arabic Language Day here on Tuesday and also staged a walk to create awareness about the importance of Arabic language.
Prof Dr Muhammad Asif Awan Dean Faculty of Islamic & Oriental Learning GCUF led the walk which started from Takbeer Block.
The participants marched on various university roads including Basic Science Block Road, Examination Branch Road, Muhammad Ali Block Road, Zakir Hussain Block Road, Yousuf Block Road and Vice Chancellor Secretariat Road.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans and scripts about the importance of Arabic Language and its role in promoting Islamic teachings.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asif Awan said that Arabic language was not only a religious language of Muslim Ummah but it was also spoken in various countries of the world.
Due to indifferent attitude of Muslim rulers in the past we had to adopt English language instead of Arabic language as international language, he said.
"If we want to get of lost glorious position, we will have to adopt Arabic language in all spheres of our life as it is a language of Quran which is a complete code of life for success in this world and hereafter," he added.
Chairman Arabic and Islamic Studies Department GCUF Dr Ghulam Shamsur Rehman, former Chairman Arabic Department Dr Ejaz Farooq Ahmad, Dr Iftikhar Ahmad and others were also present on the occasion.
