Group chats might be annoying for some as people are often added to groups without their consent. This might soon change as WhatsApp will reportedly include a new feature that would require user’s consent before being added to a group.

WhatsApp keeps on adding new features to the app, many as per users’ demands. This time Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has asked the social media messaging app to incorporate a feature that would require taking consent of people before adding them to WhatsApp group.

WhatsApp might launch new Silent, Vacation Mode features

As reported by The Financial Express, the step is taken as a result of many complaints registered with the government about being added to random groups without their permission. This led the government to take the matter to WhatsApp, who might be acting upon it and might release the feature in its next update.

Previously, WhatsApp has already introduced features where the group’s admin must have the users’ number stored in their contact list in order to add them up to the group. Also, if a member left the group twice, the admin wasn’t allowed to add them back again, as per Phone Arena.
