LAHORE: The Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) today presented the Corporate Philanthropy Award to Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC) for their extensive work in the social, environmental and educational sectors of the country. FFC was among the top-5 companies in Pakistan in terms of volume of donations. The company’s CSR initiatives are a benchmark for organizations involved in similar philanthropic activities.
The award was presented by the Honorable Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly to Brig (Retd) Munawar Hayat Khan Niazi, Tbt, SI(M) of FFC at a special ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, Karachi. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, Chairman, Board of Directors, PCP; Mr. Tanwir Ali Agha, Executive Director, PCP, and representatives of UNDP and other award-winning organizations.
After the conclusion of the ceremony, Brig. Niazi of FFC said “I strongly believe that economic growth and our ambitions for the eradication of poverty depend upon the energy and drive of business and commerce, directly by creating jobs and indirectly by donating money and using organizational abilities to address social issues.”
The FFC Corporate Social Responsibility contributions in the areas of education, health, disaster relief and environment are significant. FFC is striving to incorporate UNGC (United Nations Global Compact) principles into its strategy and governance for a sustainable business, and internationally the company is well recognized as a member of International Fertilizer Association (IFA), Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) and United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) New York USA.
Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC) is the largest urea manufacturer in Pakistan. It was incorporated in 1978 as a joint venture between Fauji foundation (a leading charitable trust in Pakistan) and HaldorTopsoe A/S of Denmark. The Company is operating three world scale urea plants with an aggregate design capacity of over 2 million metric tons per annum.
