Principal Gujranwala Medical College Professor Aftab Mohsin disclosed that hospital has completed the criteria of Punjab Human Organs Transplantation Authority and the first kidney transplantation would be carried out in the month of July.
This was revealed in a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Kh Salman Rafiq held to review the progress of development schemes and performance of the hospitals. It was informed in the meeting that the MRI Machine has been installed in the DHQ Teaching Hospital Gujranwala at a cost of Rs 200 million while an operation theater and urology department has also been completed.
The principal informed the participants that presently 14 different units are working in the hospital where 100 PG training doctors are getting training and stipend as well. The construction of 500 beds new hospital is under progress and so far 550 million rupees have been spent on the project.
