The Punjab Agriculture Department has finalised the rules and regulations of cotton competition to encourage the farmers for growing more cotton and play their role in strengthening the national and provincial economy. The growers have to submit an application to participate in this competition till July 31 in the offices of their respective Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension). The growers having over 5 acres of arable land while people having joint ownership/tenants and contractors are also eligible to take part in this competition.
Record of every applicant will be enlisted in the office of Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension). Some 10 plots from every tehsil will be selected for this competition and 3 high yield achievers will be selected from every district. Winners at provincial level will be selected from district winners. Members of the provincial and national assemblies, senators and their family members, officers of Grade-17 and above, employees of revenue and agriculture departments are not eligible to participate, said an announcement here on Tuesday.
