International Taimur Naseer clinched the trophy of the Air Marshal Asghar Khan National Amateur Golf Championship with his gross six under 210 over 54-holes here at PAF Golf Course on Sunday.
Air Marshal Saeed Muhammad Khan, Vice Chief of the Air Staff was the chief guest on this occasion. Air Vice Marshal Zahir A. Babar, Air Officer Commanding, Northern Air Command, other high civil and military officials, leading golfers, and game spectators were also present in the presentation ceremony.
A consistent winner Taimur, who is also national team members and recently won the Championship in Sri Lanka by defeating Indian golfers, carded six under 210 by adding two under 70 to his overnight 69 and 71.
"The pin placing was so tough on the last day and was at the edge of the green but thank God I carded three birdies and 15 par whereas hitting all regulations. My long drive was improved so much and that is why it made my task easy to go either for birdie or for par," Taimur Naseer told media in his post-match chat with media.
Another top Amateur Inayat Ullah Yousafzai was a stroke behind on 227 gross over 54-holes by adding 75, three over par to his overnight 152. Inayat Ullah Yousafzai added 36 par at front and 39, par at back nine with three birdies and 10 par.
In the Net category Rehmat Ullah got first position, followed by Wg Cdr. Shahid and Wg Cdr Shahbaz Khan. In the Amateur HCP 15-18, Sqn Ldr Ehsan Elani carded 166 gross over 36 holes took first position by adding 84 and 82 in his two-day round, followed by Saqib Samad with his gross score 169 and Sqn Ldr Umer Chaudhry with gross 177.
In the Net category Shahid Farooq, 18 HCP carded 136 overs 36 holes, followed by Major Sajjad with his Net score 137 and Sohaib Roomi with his Net 144 remained at second and third respectively. In the Senior Amateur Colonel M. Saud got first, followed by Colonel Shahadat and Brigadier Nasrullah Kattana while in the Net Dr Shahkar got first, followed by Dr Naeem and Brigadier M. Aslam.
In the Ladies international golfer Tahira Nazir of Rawalpindi Golf Club carded Net 38 and won the trophy, followed by national golfer Dr Soni Wali with 39 Net score and Hamna Amjid (39) and Miss Attia (39) declared as joint third.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and attractive utility prizes to the position holders.
