New data shows iOS 9 running on 70 percent of Apple mobile devices

Seven out of 10 active iPhones, iPods and iPads are using the iOS 9 operating system, according to figures Apple has published about its App Store. Apple said the ninth incarnation of the mobile operating system has spread to users faster than any previous version.
The iOS 9 system uses much less memory than older versions and still can be used on the 4-year-old iPhone 4S.
Apple said the predecessor iOS 8 is only running on about 22 per cent of devices, with the remaining 8 per cent of devices using still older iOS operating systems.
