Patron-in-Chief, United Business Group (UBG), S M Munir, on Tuesday vowed to win the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry's (FPCCI) election being held on December 30. Speaking to FPCCI Executive Committee and General Body members, he claimed that the UBG held 90 percent majority in the FPCCI polls. He accused the opposition group of escaping from the polls by resorting to politics of blame-game. He asserted that he and his group members would contest the polls and defeat the opponents.
Munir said that the UBG had helped the business community practically and the rivals were worried of its popularity among traders and industrialists. He said his group after winning the polls would continue to serve the business community.
"Traders and industrialists will vote for the UBG candidates and make them win the election with an overwhelming majority," he said, adding that the voters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, parts of Sindh had reached the city. He asserted that the opposition's allegations and threats could not deter the UBG from winning the poll.
A day earlier, the UBG spokesman Gulzar Feroz, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Munir Sultan and Noor Ahmed Khan slammed the rival group leaders including the presidential nominee of Businessmen Panel, Haji Ghulam Ali, Mian Zahid Hussain and Fehmeeda Jamali for using 'inappropriate' language against S M Munir. They asked the Sindh Home Department, Federal Interior Ministry and Rangers to take notice of the threats to S M Munir. They also alleged that the opposition had failed to protect the business community's interests.
