German Ambassador Ina Lepel, British High Commissioner Philip Barton and Ambassador of European Union Jean Francois attended the inauguration of Mock Crime Scene Facility constructed at the cost of Rs 5 million with the cooperation of German Institution GIZ here on Monday. Secretary Home Punjab Azam Suleman, Advisor to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool, Jehangir Khanzada MPA, senior officials of police and other concerned departments were also present.
British High Commissioner said that the recent incidents of terrorism have affected the entire world and Pakistan was also targeted. He reiterated that Britain is standing by Pakistan in the war against terrorism. Director General PFSA Dr Ashraf Tahir said that the importance of Mock Crime Scene Facility was envisaged at the time of setting up Forensic Science Agency. He said for the purpose of investigation of cases on scientific lines, this facility is of vital importance.
He said Punjab Forensic Science Agency is playing a key role in the investigation of cases in a professional manner. He said training of police prosecutors and other stakeholders is of great importance for fully benefiting from this facility. He said the agency is imparting training of crimes scene management technique to various law enforcement agencies. Agency has provided training to about 8000 officers and officials of various law enforcement agencies so far.
He also thanked Ambassadors of German and European Union and British High Commissioner on this occasion. Inaugurating the facility, Khanzada said the war against terrorism has greatly increased the need and importance of Punjab Forensic Science Agency. Instead of fighting the war against terrorists in traditional manners, modern methods of investigation and latest equipments will have to be developed.
