Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail has claimed that his party has evidence of application given to Karachi administration for a rally in the city. "We will go ahead with our rally and if administration wants to arrest us, go ahead" Ismail told a private television channel. "Although we had submitted a prior application, there was no such legal requirement during elections," he added.
Faisal Vawda, another PTI leader, said that Imran Khan was very pleased with the reception he received from supporters in Karachi. "We have been able to travel only half a kilometre in more than an hour due to the massive welcome from the people of Karachi," he said. On the other hand, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui maintained that both Jamaat-i-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had not got a prior permission for the rally.
Imran Ismail said that historically the administration never gives them anything in writing in the last 15 years. Whenever, they have to refuse permission they let us know but in the event of their permission they simply remain silent. He added that their silence was taken as consent by the party.
