A grand condolence reference was held in Hotel Kabul Star to pay tribute to the life and struggle of Mohammad Afzal Khan (Khan Lala) in Kabul, Afghanistan Saturday. The reference was hosted by the Afghan Ministry of Tribal and Borders Affairs. ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, PMAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai, QWP President Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, Afrasiab Khattak, Mohammad Saleem Khan, a number of Afghan ministers, parliamentarians, intellectuals and tribal elders participated in the reference.
Asfandyar Wali Khan on this occasion paid glowing tribute to the memory of Khan Lala who had devoted his life for uniting Pakhtuns and for achieving their rights. He said that Khan Lala stood like a rock to face the threat of terrorism. He said hundreds of ANP activists sacrificed their lives for peace in the region. ANP President assured the people of Afghanistan that his party stands in solidarity with them in defeating terrorism and establishing peace. He added that peace in Asia is connected with peace in Afghanistan.
Former Afghan President admired the consistent struggle of Mohammad Afzal Khan for strengthening the fraternal relations between the people living on both sides of Durand Line that is why the people of Afghanistan remember him as true follower of Bacha Khan. He pointed out the need for pooling efforts for achieving peace in the region. He said Afghans people want peace with neighbouring countries while vigilantly guarding their freedom.
The reference was also addressed by famous Afghan poet and politician Suliman Laiq, an old and prominent Khudai Khidmatgar Abdullah Bakhtani and former governor of Kabul Abdul Jabbar Taqwa. Mohammad Saleem Khan, the eldest son of Khan Lala thanked the Afghan government and people for praying for the soul of Khan Lala and remembering his services for the people.
