The prices of the essential kitchen items have witnessed a slight reduction during last week as compared to preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of tomato had witnessed a reduction of Rs 50 per 5 kg from Rs 300 per 5 kg in wholesale market to Rs 250 per 5 kg, while in retail market the commodity is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Potato price has reduced by Rs 20 per 5 kg from Rs 140 per 5 kg to Rs 120 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 35 per kg. Onion price also came down by Rs 30 per 5 kg from Rs 230 per 5 kg to Rs 200 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being available at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg. Spinach also witness a reduction of Rs 5 per kg from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 25 per kg, Tinda price reduced by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 60 to Rs 50 per kg and Shimla Mirch price reduced by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 140 per kg to Rs 120 per kg.
Green chilli price remained unchanged at Rs 70 per kg, while lemon price also witnessed no change and is being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Cauliflower and cabbage prices went up by Rs 10 per kg which are being sold at Rs 80 per kg and Rs 50 per kg respectively. Price of peas witnessed a reduction of Rs 50 per kg from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 100 per kg. Tori price went down by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 60 per kg, Arvi remained unchanged at Rs 60 per kg and carrot price also witnessed a reduction of Rs 10 per kg from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 70 per kg. Ginger price went up by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 300 per kg and garlic price remained stable at Rs 180 per kg.
Live chicken price have witnessed a reduction of Rs 1,600 per 40 kg from Rs 6,400 per 40 kg to Rs 4,800 per 40 kg, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 170 per kg and chicken meat price also reduced by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 300 per kg to Rs 270 per kg. While there is no change in the prices of beef, mutton, wheat flour, spices, pulses, fresh and packed milk, different brands of rice, eggs, tea, ghee and other items.
The survey observed that the prices of the entire range of fruits during the week witnessed a further reduction as good quality grapes are being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 250 per kg, while normal quality at Rs 120-150 per kg against Rs 200 per kg, good quality mangoes are being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 125 per kg, different qualities of local banana is being sold in the range of Rs 60 to Rs 100 per dozen, while Indian banana is being available at Rs 150 per dozen. Apple is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, good quality Swati peach is being sold at Rs 100-120 per kg.
