The Supreme Court Monday issued directives to Punjab government to submit the record relating to encroachment on forest land for developing a private housing society as well as construction of Dadhocha Dam in Rawalpindi. A two-member bench led by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed the hearing of a matter relating to the construction of Dadhocha Dam and encroachment on forest land in Rawalpindi for developing a private housing society, Bahria Town.
Appearing before the court, the provincial advocate general submitted that the Punjab government has prepared a feasibility report of the Dam which is to be constructed on the land allocated in the first place. He further said that government has also appointed an advisor to oversee the construction.
Responding to the bench on holding an inquiry about alleged change of Dam site, the advocate general said that the government is ready to go for an inquiry in the matter. The court summoned District Collector Rawalpindi and concerned official of the Survey of Pakistan to come up with complete details of forest land at Takhat Parri, Lohi Behir Rawalpindi with a report about encroachers on the said land on the next hearing. The hearing of matter was adjourned till August 12.
