The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its campaign against adulterated milk and food outlets selling substandard items here on Friday. Field teams checked milk-carrying vehicles entering Lahore and inspected kitchens of two hotels and other food outlets.
The teams inspected 84 milk-carrying vehicles entering Lahore from various points, including the Ravi Bridge, Thokar Niaz Baig, Saggian and Babu Sabu and confiscated five of them having 1,260 litres of milk mixed with water. The teams also wasted another 1,120 litres of substandard adulterated milk. The Data Ganj Bukhsh team, spearheaded by Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz, inspected kitchens of two famous hotels and heavily fined for improper storage of leftover food, absence of expiry date on bakery products and dirty floors. A team also inspected the Punjab Bakery Gowalmandi and sealed it because of substandard bakery products, poor hygiene and sale of expired items.
