Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that road links to different villages damaged in the torrential rains and flood have been partially restored. According to the report of PDMA the number of fully damaged houses in district Chitral had climbed to 151 while 38 other were damaged partially. The number of affected villages from north-west part of the district from Drosh to Garamchashma and in north-east to Korakh and Mastuj, Kusht Malkho and Turkho.
Efforts for the restoration of road links with Garamchashma, Shogoor, Kasit, Andur, Pacheli, Shishi Kosh, Korakh, Boni, Reshun, Charoon, Kasht, Avair, Fasti and Karimabad are in full swing. According to initial estimates flash flood has caused damages to the tone of over Rs 1billion to the infrastructure of the far-flung district. The worst affected areas are Kalash valley with 2500 population, Garamchashma with 60000 population and Upper Chitral areas including Boni, Mastooj, Mulkow, Torkow and Yarkhoon with 200,000 population that have been cut off from main Chitral from the last one week.
The provincial government besides non-food items had already dispatched 20 tons food items to Chitral and more are being sent shortly. The non-food items distributed in the flood affectees are included 45 tents, 45 kitchen set, 510 blankets, 117 tarpaulin, 2 water tank, 50 mattresses, 90 mosquito kits, 450 Jerry Canes and 45 hygiene kits. All the organisations including C&W, Irrigation, Public Health Engineering Department, PDMA etc are working day and night to provide relief to the affected population while Pakistan Army, Army Engineering Units and Chitral Scouts are extending full support to the provincial government.
