Emirate Airline will start transportation of mango from Multan to Gulf states and European countries in August,2015, said Khalid S S Bardan, Vice President of Commercial Operation Centre in Pakistan while talking to the members of Executive Committee of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) chaired by Mian Iqbal Hassan President of the chamber.
Bardan has said that Emirates, a global would launch services to the ancient city of Multan, its sixth destination in Pakistan with effect from August Ist, 2015. Emirates will operate four weekly flights with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft in a two-class configuration, offering 54 seats in business class and 183 in economy class. He agreed to facilitate the members of Multan Chamber like member of other chambers, ie Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi.
He assured that Emirates would provide transport facility for fresh fruits like mango, citrus and perishable items like vegetables for their early and quick disposal to the destination on discount rates. On the request of concession in fare, Bardan said that it would be possible in due course of time. He said that we have a close contact between the exporters, importers, traders and other member of the business community.. "Pakistan was the first country Emirates flew to just over 28 years ago", said Bardan. "Since then the airline has steadily grown its network and continued to link the Pakistani community to the UAE as well as to world-wide destinations, making it easier to connect with friends, family and trade opportunities.
Mian Iqbal Hassan President of MCCI said, "Having Emirates commence operations here will boost the regional economy, and offers Emirates passengers a convenient new entry point to Pakistan through our modern and efficiently run facility." Multan is a gateway to central Asian states and is a capital of South Punjab located in the South-west of the Punjab province in Pakistan. The city is renowned as a city of spiritual saints (Madinah-tul-Aulia) and this zone produces 80 percent of cotton and most delicious mangoes, ceramics and leather garments. Alamgir Jamil Khan Senior Vice President said, "We would remain in contact with the Emirates officials and we are optimistic that the airlines would announce concessional fare for the members of Multan Chamber in due course of time. The meeting was also attended by Shahid Tariq Bhatti, Senior Sales Executive, Jawad Ahmed Qureshi,SalesManager sales,Syed Sohail Ahmed Cargo Manager of Emirates, Khurram Javed Secretary General of MCCI.
