Hard red winter wheat basis bids climbed for the second straight day in the CIF track export market on Thursday, buoyed by rains that delayed the harvest and slow shipments of fresh supplies to the US Gulf Coast, grain merchants said. Basis bids for HRW wheat were mostly unchanged at elevators and flour mills in the southern US Plains, with some farmers expected to resume harvest in the next few days amid outlooks for warmer and drier weather conditions. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were up 5 cents per bushel for lower protein classes of the wheat variety, the CME Group said late on Wednesday.
