Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Assembly was Friday told that the provincial government is working on a draft monetization policy for arresting the misuse of official resources by public servants. This revealed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Shah Farman while responding to a question of the Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli of Qoumi Watan Party (QWP) regarding the allotment of official vehicles to unauthorised persons during the question hour of the provincial assembly.
Taking the floor the woman legislator expressed concern over the misuse or unauthorized use of the official vehicles by the family members of the government officers. She expressed dissatisfaction over the reply of the Administration Department regarding the issue. The provincial minister said that the policy will be included in the next annual budget for financial year 2015-16. However, the minister termed the concern of the legislator valid and said that the proposed monetization policy will help redress her apprehensions.
He said that a large number of vehicles have been withdrawn from government officials and presently none of the department has additional vehicles. However, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli insisted on her concern regarding the rampant use of official resources and requested the referring of the matter to the house committee concerned. The provincial minister agreed with the contentions of the legislator and referring of the matter to the house committee. The Speaker with the consent of the house referred the matter to the concerned house committee.
Meanwhile, the provincial government also agreed with the proposal of the Nighat Yasmin Orakzai of PPP for making amendment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act to give specific time-period to the educational institutions of University Town for shifting their business to other areas or till provision of alternative spaces.
The Provincial Minister for Local Bodies, Inayatullah Khan agreed with the contentions and risks of the rendering of thousands of people unemployed due to the closure of schools and other commercial activities in the residential areas. During the proceedings the Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs introduced Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Establishment of Civil Mobile Courts Bill, 2015 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the house. The house also witnessed a clash of the Nighat Yasmin Orakzai of PPP and Meraj Hamayun Khan of QWP regarding remarks later clarified by Special Assistant to CM, Dr Meher Taj Roghani about the closer of Halfway house for women.
She said that the concerned shelter house for women facing domestic and legal problems was established as ADP scheme while another such facility working under the name of Women Crisis Centre was already operational in Peshawar. Therefore, Finance Department in the budget 2014-15 did not allocated more funds for the Halfway House for Women and now it has been closed down. The Speaker, Asad Qaiser later adjourned the proceeding of the house till 2:00 P.M of June 15, 2015.
