The United Business Group (UBG) led by Iftikhar Malik swept the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) annual elections for 2015. UBG's candidates Mian Muhammad Idrees and Abdul Rahim Janoo were elected as President and Senior Vice President of FPCCI for the year 2015, respectively.
Accordion to unofficial results, Mian Idrees got 139 votes whereas his opponent Anjum Nisar of Businessmen Panel (BMP) led by Tariq Saeed secured 89 votes.
Talking to Business Recorder, UBG spokesmen Gulzar Fearoz said polling for election of President, Senior Vice President and eight Vice presidents of the federation started at 10 am and ended at 5:00 pm.
Abdul Rahim Janoo secured 150 votes to be elected as SVP whereas his opponent Waseem-ur-Rehman of BMP got 78 votes.
Fehmeeda Kausar Jamali of UBG on women chamber seat and Muhammad Akram Farid of UBG on Federal area seat have already been elected unopposed.
On Vice President seat of Punjab Khawaja Zaraz Kaleem of UBG was elected with 18 votes whereas his opponent Masood Ahmed Majeed of BMP could secure only 11 votes.
Mohammad Ikram Rajput of UBG was elected VP from Sindh province.
On four seat of association of trade and industry, three candidates of UBG including Muhammad Waseem Vohra, Hameed Akhtar Chadda and Shahnawaz Ishtiaq were elected.
On Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seat Safdar Zaman Shah of BMP was elected whereas Ahmed Aziz Bilour of UBG lost the seat by two votes.
Senior Member Core Committee United Business Group (UBG) Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig congratulated UBG leadership over victory of their panel in FPCCI Election 2015.
Dr Baig thanked all member bodies of trade & industry, chambers and associations for their support to UBG group and their candidates.
