The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has directed police high ups to further enhance the security of sensitive and vulnerable establishments and places and take action with well calculated plan on intelligence alert.
"Sky is the limit for every police officer to combat the confronting challenges of terrorism" remarked the police chief while chairing a high level meeting of Regional Police Officers regarding law and order in the province. The meeting had been convened in the back drop of Army Public School Peshawar incident in which security situation was reviewed and recommendations for vulnerable establishments and places were presented. Additional IGPs Special Branch, Operation, Investigation, Commandant Elite Force, DIGs DCT, Headquarters, CCPO, Commandant Rapid Response Force and all Regional RPOs attended the meeting.
In the meeting jail security, identification of prisoners waiting execution, Search and Strike Operation, Tenant Identification, Preparation of Rapid Response Force, checking of people and vehicles through Vehicle Versification System (VVS), Criminal Record Verification (CRV) and Identification and Verification System (IVS) were thread barely discussed.
The IGP directed the participants to hold meeting with all stake holders and adopt stringent extra ordinary measures to combat the confronting challenges in a befitting manner. The police chief directed DIGs and DPOs to personally visit all jails in the province and block all roads leading to jail with the consultation of jail officials so that no vehicle could reach there. They were also directed to make alternate routes for the public for this purpose.
It has also been directed on the occasion that all item (food etc) to be sent to the prisoners should be checked by a team to be headed by superintendent jail. It has also been directed that the jail staffs would use only one SIM of their name and would not be allowed to carry and use SIM registered on other names. They were also directed to promptly launch search and strike operation in all over the province with the special focus on the population situated near jails with the help of sniffer dogs, VVS, CRV, and IVS Systems.
The Regional Police Officers were further directed to check all hotels, hostels and Serais through concerned DPO with immediate effect and register FIRs against all managers found involved in violation of tenant acts. It has also been directed that courts security should be strengthened and court authority should be take on board and their suggestions be accommodated in the process.
They were directed that Security Alarm in sensitive establishments and places should be kept operational and educational institutions not fulfilling the security needs should not be reopened. "We must have A, B, C... etc plan and act on it accordingly", maintained the IGP and strictly directed the use of modern gadgets/technology ie VVS, CRV and IVS System during checking on different points and make their every action meaningful. They were also directed to adopt extraordinary measures in exceptional circumstances and implement the instructions in letter and spirit within a week time and submit their report to CPO.
