Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Mubashar Raza has said that implementation on new transport fares should be ensured so that fruits of reduction in the prices of petroleum products should reach the common man. He stated this while presiding over a meeting convened for implementation on new fares of transport here on Wednesday, disclosed an official. Secretaries of transport, industry, livestock, food and information departments besides Director Special Branch, all commissioners were online through video link.
He said flex of new fare should be displayed at all bus stands and strict action should be taken against overcharging fare. According to him, after reduction in petroleum prices the Punjab government has taken emergent measures aimed at transferring the effects of reduction in price of petrol to the common man and elimination of profiteers. He directed all commissioners and DCOs to ensure strict implementation on the policy of the government evolved for reduction in prices of petroleum products and process of vigilance should be improved. Aim of the government is to benefit the common man from reduction in prices of petroleum; similarly, market will strengthen and the prices of edible items will also reduce, he added. On the occasion, Secretary Transport informed the meeting that fare schedule of 11963 vehicles were checked during checking of 585 bus stands throughout the province, out of which, 3075 buses had overcharged, upon which Rs 1.447 million fine was imposed and route permits of 114 vehicles were suspended.
