Leader of House in the Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq, on Friday condemned the Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB) and said that the government would protect its citizens at all cost. Responding to Senator Babar Awan's point, Raja Zafarul Haq expressed serious concern over LoC violations, adding that the issue of Indian shelling on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary should be discussed in the House.
He said the government would give details of the issue to the House. He said the Army has effectively responded to the Indian aggression. As a result, there is a reduction in firing from the other side in the last two or three days. He vowed the government would fully look after the families of martyrs.
Raja Zafarul Haq rejected the impression that the government has not issued any statement against the Indian hostilities. He said the government feels its responsibility, adding that Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz had given his statement on the issue. He said these statements would also be presented to the House.
Earlier, on a point of order, Babar Awan while bringing Article 5 (1) and Articles 4 and 9 into the notice of the Chairman Senate said that the Indian Defence Minister is threatening Pakistan while our Defence Minister and the Prime Minister are silent. "Our Defence Minister did not say a single word to condemn the aggression. It is basic responsibility of the government to protect the lives and property of the citizens. I request the Chairman to suspend the routine proceedings of the House and discuss the Indian army aggression on LoC," he maintained. The House also offered Fateha for those who lost their lives in Indian firing and shelling on the LoC and the Working Boundary. Later, a Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) annual report for the year 2013 was presented to the House. The House was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 4.00 pm.
