Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri have spent billions of rupees on sit-ins in Islamabad. He said that it would be better if this amount had been spent on helping the affectees. Shahbaz Sharif said that he appealed to those staging sit-ins many times to come out and help the affectees but they have become stonehearted. He said that people were drowning in water but Khan Sahib was busy in music and dance functions in Islamabad.
Addressing Imran Khan, the Chief Minister said that these poor villagers are your Pakistani brethren. Are you not worried that these people are drowning, he questioned. He said that Tahir-ul-Qadri who belongs to Jhang; should have come to Jhang for sympathising with the people. He said that people will never forgive Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri for the way they have ignored the flood affectees.
He expressed these views while addressing flood affectees during his visit to flood affected areas of district Jhang and nearby villages Athara Hazari, Ahmedpur Sial, Bhochra, Kot Shakar, Jandana, Jogaira and Garh Maharaja Tuesday. The Chief Minister reviewed the relief and rehabilitation activities in flood-hit areas. He inspected relief camps, met the affectees and inquired about their problems.
Shahbaz Sharif also reviewed preparations for the distribution of financial assistance among affectees. Addressing flood affectees, the Chief Minister said that those staging sit-in have shown worst apathy towards flood affectees and they did not care about their distressed brothers and sisters marooned in flood.
He said that the conspiracy of London plan has been exposed. He said that the aim of Imran-Qadri London conspiracy was to stop the Chinese investment in Pakistan and people have become aware of their nefarious designs. He said that Imran Khan, Tahir-ul-Qadri and Chaudhry Brothers are important character of London plan. Shahbaz Sharif said that Chaudhry Brothers got written off their loans of crores of rupees during their tenure and committed a dacoity of billions of rupees in Punjab Bank. He said that the main target of London plan was postponement of the visit of Chinese President and energy projects. He said that a massive investment was stopped in Pakistan due to postponement of the visit of Chinese President through London conspiracy and hurdles were created in the progress of national economy.
The Chief Minister said that China is best friend of Pakistan and agreements of investment of billions of dollars were expected during the visit of Chinese President to Pakistan but those staging sit-ins hatched conspiracy of postponing this visit whereas Chinese President made agreements of investment of 20 billion dollars in India. The Chief Minister said that flood caused devastation over large area in Punjab and district Jhang was worst affected. He said that every effort will be made for complete rehabilitation of the flood affectees and the first instalment of compensation for losses will be paid to them before Eid-ul-Azha. He said that the process of payment of financial compensation will be started in Punjab from September 27 and a sum of Rs 25 thousand will be given to each affected family. He said that second instalment of the compensation will be paid by October 20. He said that federal and Punjab governments are jointly spending a sum of 15 billion rupees on providing financial help to calamity-hit people. Shahbaz Sharif said that he will personally supervise the process of disbursement of financial assistance so that no deserving person is deprived of his right. The Chief Minister said that he will himself go to the flood affectees for the payment of compensation as he has done for the provision of help and assistance during flood and the entire process of payment of financial help is being organized and made transparent so that no deserving person remained deprived. Shahbaz Sharif said that flood affectees have a right over national resources and all out help will be given to them so that they could stand on their own feet.
He appreciated the efforts of philanthropists, Pak-Army, Navy, Rescue 1122 and district administration to serve the humanity in the hour of distress and said that they will be rewarded by Allah Almighty. The Chief Minister said that people have given honour and respect to elected representatives by giving them their votes, therefore, it is their duty to make all out effort for help and assistance of calamity-hit people in this hour of need. He directed elected representatives and administrative officers to complete the process of payment of compensation to flood affectees with honesty so that no injustice is committed. He also asked flood affectees to keep a watchful eye on the process of payment so that no undeserving person could deprive them of their right.
He also went to villages Jogaira and Jandana and met the flood-hit people. He inquired from them about the provision of food and other relief items. He directed concerned authorities to accelerate the process of rehabilitation of flood affectees as well as repair and reconstruction work so that every affected village could be reached. He said that in the absence of ground link, helicopters and boats should be used for supply of relief items. The Chief Minister issued instructions to solve the problem of land erosion by River Chenab at Jogaira and said that a comprehensive planning be made for saving the villages from inundation in future.
Shahbaz Sharif also went to Athara Hazari and nearby village Jandana and inquired from the flood affected people about their problems. Addressing the affectees, he said that arrangements are being completed for the provision of financial assistance to the flood-hit people. He also inspected relief camps at Garh Maharaja and asked the affectees about their problems. He directed the administration that hundred percent vaccinations of cattle are ensured while shortage of necessary medicines should be removed. He asked the people to cooperate in maintaining transparency in the process of payment of relief and assistance. The Chief Minister also spent his birthday today with the flood affectees of Jhang. Replying to a question, he said that the poor people are his family. Media-men congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on his birthday.
