Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Pakistan Dr Song Jong-Hwan on Thursday said adequate efforts are being made for further enhancing business co-operation in all areas between South Korea and Pakistan. Special attention has been focused on mutual interests to initiate private level joint research for exploring the possibilities of bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, he said.
Addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here, he said positive results of this research would pave the way to increase the trade volume of 1.5 billion dollars to many folds in coming years. The Ambassador was of the view that the pro-business friendly policies of Pakistan government are encouraging local and International businessmen to do their business freely and fairly in Pakistan adding that Korean companies are willing to do business and explore business opportunities jointly with local partners in Pakistan.
Under the circumstances Sialkot could become a very attractive destination for foreign business community due to its experience of producing international standards goods and exposure of changing global market requirements, he said. The Ambassador said we are ready to join and contribute to development agenda of Pakistan, adding, if the vision 2025 is truly implemented Pakistan will be among top 25 economies by 2025. The Ambassador said a business delegation of SCCI should visit Korea and businessmen should participate in trade fairs and exhibitions for introducing their products adding that in this regard Embassy will extend full co-operation while Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KTIPA) will also assist the business community of Pakistan for boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.
In his address of welcome President SCCI Dr Sarfraz Bashir said for improving bilateral trade volume between the two countries exchange of trade delegations and one-to-one meetings of businessmen of two sides are vital and in this regard visa policy should be relaxed.
