The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, constituted a panel of experts to examine and evaluate proposals, presented by a US firm, regarding security of government vehicles and buildings and recycling of waste water. "Both technologies could be important for the province specially when we are fighting with terrorism in Karachi and facing problem of brackish water, besides the municipal and industrial waste has created health hazard condition for the common man."
This he observed while talking to the Chief Executive of SN International powers LLC (USA) Sohail Khan who called on him along with Director, Micheal Kronick and country representative Mahsheed Mohiuddin to discuss investment proposals here on Tuesday. The CM took keen interest in introducing latest but low cost and effective US technologies for bullet and bomb proofing of government vehicles and buildings for security reasons and refining or recycling the waste water for its socio-economic benefits.
Talking to the delegates he said Sindh government has already planned to refine and reuse the LBOD saline water for the Thar Coal-Power Project by treating it through ROs; but, if this technology is found more economical it could be applied for agricultural purposes as well. He further elaborated that by refining the municipal and industrial waste water, not only environmental condition could be improved but also water borne diseases could be controlled to reduce the health bill of Government and citizens' as well.
The Chief Minister directed the officers of KMC, LBOD and Planning and Development Department to examine the proposed waste water refining technology by establishing a pilot project at Karachi and report for future roadmap. Elaborating the importance of security of government vehicles and buildings at low cost, he asked the IG Sindh Police and other experts to examine the technology of bullet proofing through PVC rigid composite and lamination with specialised polestar multiple layers in all sense and submit their recommendations.
Sindh Government is already working on a project for protection of police officials, he said and added, such type of technology would also encourage them and improve their performance. The Principal Secretary to CM Alammuddin Bullo was present in the meeting.-PR
