Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC): Message from Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan
As the Senate of Pakistan looks forward to hosting the forthcoming Interparliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC) in Islamabad, I extend my profound appreciation to the Honourable Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, for convening this timely moot. This initiative reflects our shared resolve to elevate parliamentary diplomacy as a decisive instrument for peace, development, and regional cooperation in an increasingly complex global landscape.
Pakistan's Parliament has remained at the forefront of advancing constructive and principled engagement among legislatures. In recent months, we had the privilege of hosting the Third Trilateral Speakers' Conference, with the esteemed participation of the parliamentary leadership of Turkeiye and Azerbaijan.
Focused on strengthening fraternal ties and fostering regional cooperation, the forum reaffirmed that legislatures have an indispensable role in addressing cross-border challenges, including climate resilience, regional stability, and inclusive economic growth.
Our experience in spearheading the six-nation Speakers' Conference comprising Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Turkeiye, Russia stands as another testament to this conviction. Centered on regional connectivity and countering terrorism, that initiative demonstrated how sustained inter-parliamentary dialogue can nurture shared security and unlock transformative opportunities for our people.
The ISC represents a continuation of this parliamentary vision. It expands the circle of cooperation, brings diverse perspectives to the table, and reinforces a collective commitment to a rules-based international order anchored in mutual respect and shared prosperity. It is a timely opportunity to deepen collaboration on issues that transcend borders, from water and food security to digital transformation, from inclusive economic frameworks to the protection of fundamental rights.
I am confident that this conference will provide participants with a platform for substantive exchanges where ideas are refined, partnerships are advanced, and common solutions are forged. Let us use this moment to broaden our horizons, strengthen institutional cooperation, and reaffirm that dialogue remains the most powerful tool of diplomacy.
Parliaments are not only guardians of the will of the people. They are also engines of global cooperation. In today's interconnected world, no nation can address emerging challenges in isolation. The Parliament of Pakistan stands ready to work constructively with fellow legislatures to advance a shared global vision, one rooted in peace, progress, and the welfare of humanity.
I warmly welcome all Honourable Speakers and distinguished delegates to Islamabad and look forward to an engaging and fruitful conference.
