Four Pakistani crew members rescued after the hijacking of MV Honour 25 off the coast of Somalia are scheduled to reach Karachi on Saturday, October 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said.
In a statement, Dar said four of the 10 Pakistani crew members affected by the incident – Yasir Khan, Aqeel Khan, Amin bin Shams and Usman Ghani – had been safely retrieved following sustained efforts by the Foreign Office and Pakistan’s Embassy in Djibouti.
He said the mortal remains of three Pakistani crew members – Rafi Ullah Khan, Syed Kashif Umer and Mahmood Ahmed Ansari – who lost their lives in the incident were also being repatriated to Pakistan.
“All necessary legal and other formalities are being fast-tracked to expedite the process,” Dar said, extending his condolences to the bereaved families.
The remaining three Pakistani crew members – Imran Ali, Yasin Muhammad and Syed Yousuf Hussain – remain aboard the vessel along with the captain.
Dar said Pakistan was actively coordinating with friendly countries to facilitate their safe extraction and earliest possible return to Pakistan.
He said the Foreign Office, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, remained fully seized of the matter and was making every effort to ensure the earliest return of all Pakistani nationals, including the bodies of the deceased.
The Foreign Office would continue extending all possible support to the affected families, he added.
