The police offices give this assurance during a meeting held at Kati to discuss law-and-order situation on Wednesday; they also assured to increase vigilance in KIA and Landhi industrial areas. They said that the police department has taken several steps for safety and security of industrialists and workers in this industrial estate. They further agreed to remove encroachments and roadside vendors causing traffic hazards.
They said that they are well aware of prevailing law-and-order condition in the city and making all possible efforts to prove conducive environment so that business community and general pubic should move freely and perform its business and other activates without fear.
Chairman Kati, Mohammad Zubair Chhaya, expressed his dismay over the rising incidents of target killing in the city and recurrent incidents of extortion and street crimes. He urged upon the police high-up to increase police patrol in KIA and reinforce all check posts in and around Korangi industrial area. Zubair said that non-violent industrial environment is necessary in the industrial areas for early revival of economic activities in the country.
President All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Mian Zahid Hussain while speaking on the occasion said that Karachi plays most important role in Pakistan's economy and law enforcing agencies particularly police should seriously review their performance and bring necessary reforms so that law and order should be restored. He expressed his anguish over increasing target killing in the city which is tarnishing Pakistan's image abroad.
He said that though Governor Sindh is making efforts to effectively control law and order in Karachi, however, police should realise the grim situation and control the deteriorating law and order. He particularly appealed the senior police officers of the area to effectively curb street crimes in KIA. Chairman Law and Order Committee Nadeem Khan reminded of the police officers to remove encroachments and roadside tea stalls which have sprung up in KIA causing immense law-and-order problems.
