HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks extended a rally Tuesday, with traders preparing for the release of key US inflation data later in the day.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.40 percent, or 68.89 points, to 17,495.10.

Hong Kong stocks start with fresh losses

The Shanghai Composite Index barely moved, edging up 0.28 points to 3,046.82, and the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange was also flat, inching down 0.50 points to 1,913.90.
