KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 178,300 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,742 tonnes of import cargo and 89,558 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 88,742 comprised of 43,157 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 712 tonnes of Flours, 6,270 tonnes of Soya Bean Seeds, 9,365 tonnes of Wheat and 29,238 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 89,558 tonnes comprised of 37,121 tonnes of containerized cargo, 205 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 4,326 tonnes of Cement, 20,629 tonnes of Clinkers, 9,300 tonnes Loose Bulk Cement, 1,985 tonnes of Rice, 15,947 tonnes of Talc Powder.
Nearly 5130 containers comprising of 2333 containers import and 2797 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 993 of 20’s and 655 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 15 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1028 of 20’s and 359 of 40’s loaded containers while 225 of 20’s and 413 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Some 05 ships namely, MSC Erminia, Lian Yang Hu, Kota Padang, HC Jana Rosa and Aruna Ece have berth at Karachi Port.
Approximately, 03 ships namely New Hellas, SG Pegasus, SSL Brahmaputra have sailed out from Karachi Port.
About 07 cargoes namely, Independent, Oocl Le Havre, GSL VALERIE, Hilda, Le Mans Express, JIU Huahai and Young Harmony were expected to arrive on the same day.
PORT QASIM
PQA berths were engaged by seven ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, a container vessel ‘MSC Patnaree-III’ left the port on Thursday morning, while two more ships, oil tanker ‘Daffodil’ and bulk cargo carrier ‘Eleen Neptune’ are expected to sail from FOTCO and MW-2 on today in the afternoon.
Cargo volume of 123,732 tonnes, comprising 78,522 tonnes imports cargo and 45,210 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 2,147 Containers (244 TEUs Imports and 1,903 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 18 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them six ships, Maersk Nile, CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Giscours, KSL Heng Yang, Carmencita and Front Cheetah carrying Containers, General cargo, Wheat and Gas oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, MW-2, FAP and FOTCO on Thursday, 2nd December, while two more ships, Umm Bab and Maritsa carrying LNG and Wheat are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 3nd December-2021.
