KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 134,257 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,181 tonnes of import cargo and 34,076 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday. The total import cargo of 103,181 comprised of 20,566 tonnes of containerized cargo, 2,806 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 10,500 tonnes of Rock Phosphate, 2,878 tonnes of Sugar, 4,784 tonnes of Wheat, 61,647 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,076 tonnes comprised of 13,346 tonnes of containerized cargo, 828 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 8,064 tonnes of Cement, 1,890 tonnes of Soda Ash, 5,798 tonnes of Rice and 1,150 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo. Nearly 2817 containers comprising of 1597 containers import and 1220 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 481 of 20’s and 551 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 07 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 156 of 20’s and 496 of 40’s loaded containers while 28 of 20’s and 22 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Some 05 ships namely, Marguerite Ace, Chemroad Orchid, Ast Malta, Ever Dainty and Glen Canyon have berth at Karachi port.
Approximately, 03 ships namely, Shiling, Xin Yan Tian and Marguerite Ace have sailed out from Karachi Port. About 06 cargoes, namely Otto H, MT Lahore, Apnoia, Common Galaxy, Northern Dedication and OS Kano 35 were expected to arrive at the same day.
PORT QASIM
Ten ships were occupied at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them two ships, Chemicals carrier ‘Otto-H’ and Containers vessel ‘MSC Rachele’ left the port on Thursday morning, while another ship, Bai Lu Zou is expected to sail from Oil Terminal on today in the afternoon.
Cargo volume of 133,468 tonnes, comprising 81,114 tonnes imports cargo and 52,354 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,349 Containers (563 TEUs Imports and 2,786 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 16 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them three ships, Thor Insuvi, Atlantis and Maersk Nile & another ship MSC Erminia carrying Coal, Furnace oil and Containers are expected to take berths at Electric Terminal, Oil Terminal and Container Terminal respectively on Thursday, 18th November, while another ship ‘Arvika’ carrying 51,779 tonnes of Coal is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and container ships, Athens Glory and CMA CGM Rabelais are due to arrive on Friday, 19th November-2021.
