Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 165,988 tonnes of cargo comprising 114,681 tonnes of import cargo and 51,307 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 114,681 comprised of 36,860 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 9,662 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 20,967 tonnes of DAP, 3,363 tonnes of Palm Kernel Expeller, 4,720 tonnes of Sugar, 2,198 tonnes of Wheat and 36,911 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,307 tonnes comprised of 38,561 tonnes of containerized cargo, 12,746 tonnes of Clinkers.

Nearly, 6053 containers comprising of 2352 containers import and 3701 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1014 of 20's and 669 of 40's loaded while 00 of 20's and 00 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 493 of 20's and 525 of 40's loaded containers while 154 of 20's and 777 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Some 03 ships namely, Pacific Bulker, Bow Clipper and Uacc Consensus have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly 03 ships namely, Lian Gui Hu and Ts Mumbai have sailed out from Karachi Port.

About 14 cargoes, namely SC Brillant, Chem Ranger, DM Jade, MT Shalamar, Merry Star, Caledonia, Cosco Thailand, Northern Dedication, Independent Spirit, Hyundai Oakland, Doric, Mohar Asia Ruby lV and World Era 6 were expected to arrive on the same day.

PORT QASIM

PQA berths were engaged by twelve ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, four ships namely, Mozart, APL California, IVS Atsugi and Nord Neptune left the port on Thursday morning, while two more ships, bulk cargo carrier 'CL Qung Shui He' and chemicals carrier 'DS Ocean' are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

Cargo handling remained upward trend at the port where a cargo throughput of 223,774 tonnes, comprising 183,759 tonnes imports cargo and 40,015 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,698 Containers (1,423 TEUs Imports and 2,275 TEUs export) was handled during last 24 hours.

Six ships, Irenes Ray, MSC Paola, MOL Genesis, Hai Tun Zhou, Clipper EOS and Cool Runner carrying Containers, Mogas, Chemicals and LNG are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, EVTL and PGPCL respectively on Thursday, 28th October-2021.
