KARACHI: A delegation representing all seven trade associations of Sindh met with SSGC’s senior management to discuss the current gas supply situation in the province. The industrialists expressed their concern at the gas shortfall witnessed as a result of the Annual Turn Around (maintenance) of the upstream sector’s Kunnar-Pasakhi Deep Gas Field that has seen supply to SSGC dropping by 170 mmcfd. The meeting was held at SSGC Head Office.

The SSGC management informed the industrialists that in order to ensure sustained future supplies of natural gas, the Company is implementing the Government of Pakistan’s Gas Load Management Plan of 2018 whereby the domestic and commercial customers are given top sectoral priority in provision of gas followed by other sectors including the captive power units of general industries and non-export industrial units. SSGC will still face a shortfall of 70 mmcfd gas even after June 29th when Kunnar Pasakhi Deep’s Annual Turn Around (ATA) is expected to end, right through July 9th. In such a situation, at least till the end of June, the Company would not be able to provide gas equitably to all the sectors.

The Company management called the industrialists ‘valued customers’ and hoped that they would support SSGC during this critical time. SSGC team assured them of uninterrupted gas supply with the gradual improvement in line pack.—PR
