ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan was informed that a coastal oil refinery would be set up in a year's time, whereas, work on a terminal would be started. The prime minister was chairing a meeting to set up a coastal oil refinery by the Pak-Arab Refinery Company Limited (PARCO) on Monday.

The prime minister said that the PARCO refinery establishment was very important for the petroleum sector, and completion of the project would increase the capacity of the sector, and help in achieving capability to locally-produced petroleum-related products.

The prime minister also chaired another meeting about introducing reforms in the energy sector, wherein, he was given briefing about the administrative, production as well price and transmission in the power sector. The prime minister directed to take measures for improvement in the energy sector.

The prime minister said that all the stakeholders must discharge their responsibilities in this regard within the stipulated period. A mechanism should be evolved to make sure that subsidy in the power sector is only available to the poor and the deserving people.
