ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has written a letter to the director general (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), to enter the information related to perpetual non-bailable warrant of arrest issued against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Toshakhana case, in the Integrated Boarder Management System (IMBS).

An official said that the NAB had asked the agency to include record of Nawaz Sharif's wanted status in the immigration system. Sources have said that the FIA will implement recommendations of the anti-graft watchdog.

He said that the NAB had also written a letter to the Punjab police, and had asked the department to paste picture and advertisement of the PML-N leader in every police station as well as outside his Raiwind residence.

According to the letter, the Accountability Court had declared Nawaz Sharif as a proclaimed offender in Toshakhana reference, a case pertaining to multi-billion rupees fake bank account cases as the accused deliberately absented himself from the court. The perpetual non-bailable arrest warrant of the accused has been issued with the direction that whenever accused is arrested, he be produced before the court. It says that the copy of the said perpetual non-bailable warrant of arrest is forwarded for reflection/entry in your immigration database and for further necessary action.

The IBMS is a national-level system of critical nature and being of vital component to support FIA immigration to keep an eye on all incoming and outgoing international travellers on the basis of FIA Act 1974 and Foreigners Registration Act 1964. The IBMS is deployed at all airports, land borders, railway stations and sea ports.
