Recently-married actor Nimra Khan has shot down speculation she was assaulted or subjected to domestic violence, saying she's grateful for the support and concern from those who reached out to her.

Rumours began floating on social media after Khan posted pictures of her scarred and bruised face on Monday, followed by another with heavy makeup hiding her wounds, one of which she claimed is an internal injury.

Khan cleared the air by going live on Instagram on Tuesday, where she looked visibly shaken and said her injuries were the result of a fall down the stairs at her parents' home while she was visiting.

Khan said she's recovering well and that her heart is full with the love and prayers she's received.

Regarding the rumours of assault and violence, Khan insisted they are a misconception and that nothing of the sort had happened.

"If someone had hit me, I would never have uploaded those pictures of myself. [Some people] know that I had an accident four or five years ago and I was very positive about life after it [as well]. I had no complaints."

"Everything happens in accordance with Allah's plans. Perhaps some of my misdeeds were meant to be washed away. One should always remain positive," said the Alif Allah Aur Insaan actor.

In April, Khan married Raja Iftekhar Azam, a police officer in London, in a private ceremony at home during the coronavirus lockdown attended only by close family members.
