KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 150,427 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,972 tonnes of import cargo and 44,455 tonnes of export cargo including 5,413 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 105,972 tonnes comprised of 37,027 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,572 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 47,373 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 44,455 tonnes comprised of 17,684 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,550 tonnes of general cargo and 23,221 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 5,413 containers comprising of 2,563 containers of import and 2,850 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,103 of 20's and 545 of 40's loaded while 20 of 20's and 175 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 445 of 20's and 305 of 40's loaded containers while 497 of 20's and 649 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Libra, Nave Cetus, Glory Ocean and Da Cai Yun carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessel carrying containers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
