Training of police personnel on modern line and equipping them with modern techniques and latest equipment is imperative to cope with the challenges of terrorism and crime, besides giving the masses a concept of soft and friendly policing, said Wajid Ali Durrani, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad here on Thursday.
"We have to prepare police personnel more effectively to cope with challenges of terrorism and collect evidence against the criminals and interview witnesses in various crime and violence cases", Durrani said while talking to the staff of police training college (PTC) during his visit. DIG (Headquarters) Ahmed Mukarram, SSP (Headquarters) Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, DSP Headquarters Ashraf Shah, DSP Police Training College Bakhtiar Lillah and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion. Durrani directed the teaching staff of PTC to educate the participants of different professional training courses on modern lines and acquaint them with modern techniques of effective e policing. "Educate those attending various courses at police training college on modern lines and improve their investigation techniques in crime cases of various nature," Durrani said.
He also directed to arrange different sessions so that participants may recognise the importance of interviewing, evidence collection, comprehensive and accurate report writing in crime and violence cases. The IGP directed to divide those attending intermediate course in the group of ten persons and award prizes to those getting distinction in their groups. He also visited the class rooms and asked to provide purely education atmosphere to those attending various professional courses.
Durrani urged the senior level police officials to resolve the problems of their subordinates on priority basis and take necessary measures for their welfare so that their performance might further be improved. He also visited the barracks of policemen and directed for improving the sanitary conditions there and for brining further improvement in recreations rooms and mess. He said that sense of responsibility was necessary to ensure effective policing and this could only be inculcated in the cops by giving them more facilities.
