The Court on Thursday has again rejected the bail plea of former Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and adjourned hearing of multi-million Hajj corruption scam. The application was moved by counsel of Hamid Saeed Kazmi before Special Judge Central Rawalpindi Muhammad Farooq Latif pleading that Kazmi has no direct involvement in the Hajj corruption case and was involved in the case with malafide intentions.
Arguing the statement of the Defence counsel, the Assistant Director Legal of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Khalid Naeem informed the court that Kazmi's financial assets are worth over Rs 30 million, while his monthly income was limited to Rs 95,000.
FIA officer informed the court that Kazmi had deliberately concealed his assets and bank accounts, while Ahmed Faiz the main accused of the multi-million scam is absconding and was declared as proclaimed offender by court. The prosecution is looking the link between Kazmi and Faiz.
The court was informed that the corruption case defamed Pakistan across the world; therefore, Kazmi should not be granted bail. He also pleaded before the court that Kazmi's lawyer Sardar Naseer told the court that 14 plots worth Rs 1.8 million were purchased in 2009 for Kazmi's children. The court rejected the bail application after hearing the arguments of both sides. The counsel of the former minister informed the media that he would now file the bail application in Islamabad High Court.
