Forget Bale, Ronaldo or anyone else, Manchester United are all set to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic new contract, as striker continues rehab in club’s facility.

Ibrahimovic starred for Manchester United last season, scoring 28 goals after arriving on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

However, a serious knee injury prematurely ended his first campaign in English football and, as a result, the Red Devils opted against naming him in their squad for the forthcoming campaign.

A journalist Di Marzio says the Red Devils are now in negotiations with the 35-year-old over a short-term deal.

It is said there has been contact between United boss Jose Mourinho and the Swedish legend as Ibrahimovic steps up his bid to regain fitness.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker is supposedly training for four to five hours each day.

Speaking before United's defeat to Real in Macedonia, Mourinho confirmed Ibrahimovic was closer to signing for them than any other club.

"Maybe he’ll stay with us,” Mourinho said.

“He has no contract but he is closer to Manchester.”
