HEC workshop on research proposal writing skills

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) held a workshop to equip the faculty members of Balochistan University Quetta with research proposal writing skills. Balochistan University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Masoom Yasinazi was the chief guest at the concluding session of the workshop, says a press release issued here on Saturday.
This two-day workshop on research proposal writing was organised by Learning Innovation Division and Social Sciences and Humanities Department of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, at the university. The workshop was attended by 30 social sciences faculty members.
The main objective of the workshop was to strengthen the skill of the participants in effective research proposal writing through activity-based learning and to sensitise them about the HEC procedures for research grant.
Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the practical steps of the HEC for promotion of research culture and faculty development, especially in the in the disciplines of social sciences and humanities. He urged the participants to do research on various important issues related to socio-economic development of the country and particularly of Balochistan province.
He remarked that proper follow-up of the workshop would be ensured and research proposals, after initial evaluation, would be submitted to the Higher Education Commission for financial assistance.
He also distributed certificates among the participants and resource persons. Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Karachi Professor Dr Syed Jafar Ahmad and HEC Project Manager of Social Sciences Murtaza Noor conducted the workshop as resource persons.
The resource persons adopted participatory approach and encouraged the faculty members to avail of the opportunities being provided by the HEC in the fields of social sciences. HEC Director Fida Hussain briefed about the HEC initiatives to faculty development, and stated that a number of short and long-term teacher training courses were being conducted by the HEC to improve the standard of teaching in public and private sector universities and affiliated colleges.
