Indonesia's non-oil-and-gas exports may miss government forecasts and grow 13 percent in 2008 instead of 14.5 percent due to unfavourable global economic conditions, Trade Minister Mari Pangestu said on Sunday.
"Our target for non-oil-and-gas exports (growth) was 14.5 percent for this year, but after a number of discussions, taking into account the possible slowdown in the global economy, we might have to revise them to 13 percent," Pangestu told Reuters. "For next year we are looking at the same level (of growth) as this year," she said in an interview on the sidelines of an economic forum in the Malaysian capital.
Indonesia, Southeast Asia's biggest economy, is a major producer of some key commodities. Regarding the recent sharp rise in commodity prices, Pangestu said: "Looking at assessments from a number of international agencies, it appears that various commodity prices have reached their peak."
