LAHORE: Newly appointed US Commercial Consular to Pakistan Steve Knode said on Monday that Pakistan and the US were trusted trade partners and it was time to strengthen bilateral ties.

During a meeting with the Acting President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), he said that more US businessmen were interested to do business with their Pakistani counterparts, adding that current economic climate in Punjab offered opportunities for further collaboration.

US Consul General Lahore Yuriy Fedkiw was also present during the meeting.

On the occasion, Knode discussed key issues affecting trade such as promotion and investment, commercial diplomacy, security, taxation, intellectual property rights, and bilateral/multilateral trade agreements.

The US Commercial Consular also held meetings with business leaders from the American Business Forum (ABF), the All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) and senior government officials at the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) during his visit to the provincial metropolis for promoting growing Pak-US business and commercial ties.

He also exchanged views regarding trade policies being implemented by the federal and provincial governments and underlined business opportunities for US companies in Punjab and beyond.

Knode invited interested Pakistani firms to do business in the US.
