SHARJAH: After a sensational match of the second edition of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium here on Saturday.
Gladiators chased the target of 201 runs in 18.5 overs as Kevin Pieterson of England was top scorer by making not out 88 runs. His crucial 88 runs helped Gladiators to win the eleventh match of PSL 11.
After losing early wickets of Ahmed Shehzad, Saad Nasim, Pieterson and South African Rilee Rossouw helped Gladiators. After adding 33 runs Rossouw departed. After Rossouw departure, Sarfraz smashed 45 runs in just 25 balls.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars smashed the first double ton of the tournament scoring 200 for the loss of just three wickets against Quetta Gladiators in the 11th encounter of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017.
The opening pair of Jason Roy and new find Fakhar Zaman took full advantage of the batting friendly Sharjah pitch and some loose bowling by Gladiators to post 75 in the first six overs. Roy made 51 off 27 hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Zaman remained three short of his first half-century scoring 47 in 32 deliveries with 6 fours and a six.
Gladiators, with this win, goes top in the table. Pieterson was declared man of the match.
