As many as 12,372 drivers/riders were issued tickets for either not wearing helmets or violating traffic regulations, during the first two days of the traffic regulation drive, said a spokesman of Karachi Traffic Police on Saturday.
About 10104 motorcycle riders were issued tickets for not wearing helmets on information of traffic police Zone-I, Zone-II, Zone-III, Zone-IV and a camera unit.
The number of vehicle owners and drivers violating traffic regulations, who were either fined or arrested under Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 comes to 733.
These traffic violations include over-speeding, signal crossing and reckless driving.
The spokesman further said DIG Traffic Captain Falak Khursheed (Retd) has advised the people to co-operate with the traffic police during the police drive, which was initiated to implement traffic regulations and ensure safety measures for their own benefit.
The DIG Traffic has also advised motorcycle riders to wear helmets, the spokesman added.
