Five persons of a family drowned in the speedy waters of river Kunhar near Balakot of Kaghan valley in Mansehra district here on Sunday. The ill-fated family of Chaudhary Sarwar from Dhok Hassu, Rawalpindi had gone for outing to Kaghan valley. They were busy in photography on the bank of river Kunhar in Khanyan village when one of the ladies slipped into the river.
Other members of the family including Chaudhary Sarwar, in their bid to save the lady, jumped into the river but they all were washed away by the violent flow of the water.
The deceased included Chaudhary Sarwar, his two sons Chaudhary Khurram Shahzad and Chaudhary Muhammad Shahbaz, daughter-in-law Aasia Begum and sister-in-law Naureen.
On receiving information, police force from Kaghan and Balakot rushed to the scene and started search for the corpses.
