Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq has said that it is high time for the Indian government to seriously initiate a substantial process for the solution of Kashmir dispute. The APHC leadership was ready to play its role to take the process of dialogue forward, Farooq told a private television channel.
Responding to a question regarding the statement of Indian Home Minister for not renewing the offer of talks to the APHC by Indian authorities, he said: "We do not yet know in which context he had issued that statement. As far as APHC is concerned, it supports the dialogue process between India and Pakistan and it also wants to discuss the issue with both the countries," he added.
It was however not a new thing for APHC whether India extended a new offer of dialogue or repeated the old one, Farooq said.
"The fact is that if there is a dialogue, there should he venue and a schedule for it, the responsibility lies with the government of India in this regard," he said.
The problem was not the modalities, the problem was indeed of seriousness and the APHC hoped that Indian government while showing seriousness would announce practical steps to expedite the process.
Asked would the statement of Indian Home Minister affect the inclusion of Kashmiris in dialogue process, he said, "I don't think so."
Explaining, he said the issue could not be resolved without involving the people of Kashmir.
He quoted President General Pervez Musharraf that the things couldn't move forward without involving the people of Kashmir in the process.
Farooq said that it would be in the interest of both India and Pakistan to address the issue of Kashmir, which had been the main cause of tension between the two countries.
