Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that land-grabbing "is a curse on our society" and it must be eliminated. In this regard, President Pervez Musharraf has signed the bill against land-grabbing and now it has become a law to be implemented with the help of provincial governments. The National Assembly and the Senate have already approved this bill.
Speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of second phase of Universal Tractor Pakistan at the industrial zone of Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Friday, he said: "It is unfortunate that land-grabbers have taken over the property of innocent citizens, which cannot be tolerated at any cost," he said, and added that "we are going to implement the law that would make them an example."
Shaukat said the menace of land-grabbing could not be ignored, as there are billions of rupees worth of property cases stuck up in courts for many years. The government is going to computerise land record all over the country, he added.
