The government on Saturday notified increase in salaries and pensions of federal government employees, with revision in basic pay scales and allowances, to be effective from July 1. The notification is in line with the increase in salaries and pensions of government employees, announced in the federal budget for FY 2005-06.
According a notification dated July 1, 2005 of the Finance Division, the revised Basic Pay Scales, 2005 will replace the existing Basic Pay Scales, 2001.
The basic pay of an employee in service on June 30, 2005 will be fixed in the Revised Basic Pay Scale on point to point basis ie at the stage corresponding to that occupied by him above the minimum of Basic Pay Scales 2001.
The corresponding stage for fixation of basic pay in aforesaid manner in respect of an employee, whose pay was fixed beyond maximum of the relevant scale as a result of discontinuation of move-over policy under the 2001 Basic Pay Scales scheme will be determined on national extension basis ie by treating the amount of personal pay drawn by him on 30th June, 2005, as part of his basic pay scale and the amount beyond the maximum of the prescribed stage in the revised Basic Pay Scales will be allowed as personal pay.
Annual increment will continue to be admissible subject to existing conditions, on 1st of December each year. Special Additional Allowance will continue to be admissible at frozen level on existing conditions.
Special Relief Allowance and Ad-hoc Relief sanctioned w.e.f. July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2004 respectively will stand frozen at the level of their admissibility as on June 30, 2005 and the amount will continue to be admissible to entitled recipients until further orders but it will cease to be admissible to new entrants joining government service on or after July 1, 2005 as well as to those employees to whom it was ceased to be admissible under existing conditions.
House Rent Allowance will be admissible with reference to the Revised Basic Pay Scales, 2005 subject to the existing conditions.
Medical Allowance will be admissible at Rs 425 per month, subject to the existing conditions.
Conveyance Allowance will be admissible on revised rates ie Rs 340 per month (BPS 1-4), Rs 460 per month (BPS 5-10), Rs 680 per month (BPS 11-15) and Rs 1240 per month (BPS 16-20).
