imageIn any society, the quality of education determines the level of progress the people are capable of. It is therefore unsurprising to learn that countries which dominate the world affairs are also to the best learning institutions.

In the latest figures, released by the QS World University Rankings for 2016-17, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to dominate the global learning sector coming first fir the fifth consecutive years.

No university from Asia was included in the top 10, as top chart was thoroughly dominated by USA and the UK. The National University of Singapore was the top Asian university sitting at 12th place in the global ranking.

Coming to Pakistan, the state of education in the motherland could be accessed by the fact that no university from the country made into the top 500 even.

The National University of Sciences And Technology (NUST) Islamabad, was the highest ranked higher learning institute of Pakistan and was placed at 501-550 band. However, it should be noted that NUST has witnessed a drop in its ranking in recent years as in 2012 it was placed at 401 position.

No other universities from Pakistan was even closed to NUST, as the others that made the list i.e. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) ranked second and third respectively in Pakistan both fall in the top 700 band globally.
